The 3rd Duke

William Grosvenor was the 3rd Duke of Westminster. Brain damaged at birth he was such a small baby that he was fed milk through a fountain pen filler. His mother died shortly after he was born and so he was brought up and looked after by his stepmother Rosamund.

He and Rosamund lived in a small private house in the south of England and were given a living allowance by the Grosvenor Estate. When Rosamund died William had a number of carers and moved to Bath for a short period. He died in 1963 in Whitstable.
