The Westminster Foundation aims to address social welfare issues in certain geographic areas only (see below) by supporting appropriate registered charities.
Projects and activities which tackle social, educational and welfare issues have been a priority of the foundation since 1974. Grants are given to a broad range of charities with compatible aims and objectives.
Grants are targeted at communities local to businesses and land owned by the Grosvenor Estate. In the UK this means areas such as London W1 & SW1, the North West of England (specifically Chester and the surrounding area and rural Lancashire), the Sutherland and Edinburgh areas of Scotland and any areas where the property company 'Grosvenor' is undertaking large development projects.
In addition, the foundation supports charities in Continental Europe and Asia as nominated by local Grosvenor teams.
In the UK the foundation only gives grants to groups and organisations that are registered with the Charity Commission, or where the grant is for an exclusively charitable purpose.
The foundation does not give grants to individuals, holiday charities, animal charities, medical research or for building conservation.
