On the Eaton Estate the Smithy Farm development is an example of the estate’s more sensitive approach to its impact on the environment.
Smithy Farm is a development of several disused farm buildings which have been converted into rural offices and incorporate a number of new technologies.
There is a Rainwater Harvester supplying water for all non-drinking purposes, an Air to Water Heat Pump which provides heat for one office and a Ground Source Heat Pump providing heat for another.
The buildings have also been insulated to the highest possible standards whilst reclaimed wood from the Abbeystead Estate has been used in their development.
