Currently there are two types of Solar Power used on the Grosvenor Estate.
SOLAR THERMAL
Solar Thermal systems use the sun to heat water and can be employed to supply not just hot water supplies to a property but also heating. Such a system is now used on the Abbeystead Estate to supply the new village hall.
PHOTOVOLTAIC
Photovoltaic or PV power uses light to generate electricity. This source of clean power is used to draw water from underground wells using Solar Pumps which can thus supply water to the surrounding wildlife. Grosvenor Estate is now looking to incorporate this form of energy supply elsewhere in its portfolio - for example on the London Estate where studies have proven the viability of the system.
