La Garganta is extremely arid, frequently suffering a serious shortfall in precipitation, although the terrain generally varies widely across the estate.
The Burranco region is mountainous and lush with vegetation. In the north and east there are pine forests and rocky slopes with fields of limestone boulders. Elsewhere one finds dusty plains, particularly in the central and western regions where there is an abundance of olive groves. The estate also has areas of grassy undulating land where there are many ponds and lakes.
