The birdlife at La Garganta ranges from songbirds to waders and birds of prey.
The most commonly seen large birds are the vultures, known as nature’s dustbins as they are scavengers rather than birds of prey, busy scouring the earth from lofty heights and looking for animals that are dead or dying. There are three types in residence: Black; Griffon; and Egyptian.
There are also Spanish imperial eagles, golden eagles and an abundance of partridge, hare and rabbit which has been allowed to develop in order to maintain a healthy food supply for these important protected species.
