Landscape

The Reay Forest

The landscape of the Reay Forest is rugged and wild. Most of the estate is mountainous, open moorland with acidic peat soils and vast areas of blanket bog.

That said, generalisations can be hard to make since the climate varies from one side to the other. At sea level in the west, for example, the climate is mild whereas in the hills to the east there is much higher rainfall.
