Both sea and brown trout are found on the Reay Forest Estate, with the average season seeing between 250 and 400 sea trout caught weighing up to 12 lbs apiece. As with salmon, there used to be significantly more sea trout than now and so a strict catch and release policy has been introduced.

Brown trout, a fresh water species, is similarly found in lochs and burns across the estate, some of which are protected areas of conservation and so off-limits to anglers. For many others a permit is required and can be obtained from the Kylestrome or Achfary Estate Offices or from the Scourie Hotel.
