Westminster Foundation and Philanthropy Director

Kate is Westminster Foundation and Philanthropy Director, responsible for managing the charitable giving of the Grosvenor family and the Grosvenor Estate.  Kate took up the role in October 2018 after having completed a course in Philanthropy, Grantmaking and Social Investment at City University, London.  The Foundation has recently been re-endowed and Kate is currently leading development of a new strategy focusing on early intervention on issues of homelessness and mental health in urban and rural settings.  In Kate’s previous role as Group Sustainability Director (2012-2018) she was responsible for strategy guidance to Grosvenor Estate internationally on sustainability. She developed a long term vision and holistic (environmental and social) sustainability approach for the Grosvenor Group (‘Living cities’) as well as advising the Family Office on the rural estates and Wheatsheaf on long-term investments into agri-food businesses to improve resource efficiency.

Kate has a particular interest in future cities that has contributed to the Grosvenor Group ‘Living cities’ vision which aims to help create attractive and sustainable cities which are socially and economically robust. She co-authored a research paper on ‘Resilient Cities’ ranking 50 global cities by environmental and social resilience.

Kate began work at Grosvenor in 1999 and spent 10 years (2003-2013) in Sydney, Australia.  She is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and chaired both the UK and European Urban Land Institute Sustainability Councils.
